Welcome to La LogerieSet in the heart of the gently undulating French countryside of the South Vienne and below the historic regional city of Poitiers, lie the cluster of attractive stone built buildings known as La Logerie. A working farm until 1994, the conversion of the farm buildings took four years to complete and the current resident owners, Brian and Gill Jones now have available for holiday let three charming cottages, set in 16 acres of tranquil rolling countryside. A small tree lined stream meanders its way through the grounds, providing a cool and pleasant retreat from the sun. Alternatively take a dip in the impressive 12 metres by 6 metres swimming pool with its spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, or for the sun worshippers, simply lounge by the pool side or on the individual private terraces to each cottage. To complete that perfect day, perhaps a barbeque in the evening with a glass or two of the local wine. Fields of sunflowers, corn and wheat predominate in the surrounding countryside, creating a rural paradise of peace and tranquillity. An old long disused railway line adjacent to the property now serves as a byway, teaming with wild flowers and bird life. Buzzards circle lazily in the summer sky and towards late evening the barn owls announce their presence with their familiar prolonged shriek as they commence their hunting forays. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, and within easy reach is the River Vienne for water activities, and the towns of Poitiers, Cognac and the coast. The pretty village of Mauprevoir is 2 kilometres distance. A small well stocked supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy, post office, garage and bar/restaurant amongst other small traditional enterprises combine to make the village so evocatively rural French . |
